AND we're back!

Lately in the Art Room...
2nd grade students have been studying the Fauves! They created a background for a Fauvist drawing by scraping chalk into a tub of water and...

Laying a piece of paper in the water gently. The swirly chalk bits stick to the paper and dry to make some beautiful designs. Students will complete a self portrait on top of the chalk background!
Leaf printmaking!
Fourth graders made their own scratch-art paper using crayons and tempera. They modeled this artwork after ancient Grecian urns.

After looking at the art of Georgia O'Keeffe, 3rd grade students began drawings of realistic flowers. We used fake flowers as models for the drawings!
Students tried to draw the fake flowers realistically and close-up, like O'Keeffe!
Now that I've worked out a few photo software issues with my school computer, I promise that this blog will be updated more frequently! We have a lot of fun things going on in the art room right now. Our art fair is coming up soon in March so most of the lessons are geared toward that right now!
Stay tuned for more!
