An O'Keeffe for Everyone

Georgia O'Keeffe was an amazingly versatile artist. Her paintings reflect a wide variety of painting styles and subject matter. But then again, she painted for nearly 90 years!

Second grade PES artists examined and discussed quite a few of O'Keeffe's paintings and drew inspiration from them to create their own works of art. Many students were interested in her still lifes of skulls and flowers, so we pulled objects from the storage closet (deer skull, anyone?) to look at as they worked.  Students also chose their own medium based on what would best fit their subject matter. I am excited about the results of this lesson and proud of my artists' hard work and experimentation!

Also, we l-o-v-e the book Through Georgia's Eyes, by Rachel Rodriguez!
